Additionally, the separately sold CM-100 contact mic can be used to send the vibrations directly to the tuner for even greater precision.

Alongside the visual tuning guide provided by the meter, the TM-40 offers the ability to use its built-in speaker to produce a tuning reference pitch (Sound Out). The device operates on a 12-note equal temperament scale and provides a reference tone range of C4 (261.63 Hz), C5 (523.25 Hz), and A Bb. The tuning modes include Meter mode (AUTO) and Sound Out mode (MANUAL), and the calibration range is set to A4 = 410 Hz - 480 Hz.
