The Nanopad2, a member of Korg's Nanoseries2 controllers, was designed to be compact, lightweight, and suitable for use with any laptop or desktop computer. In addition to its compact design, the Nanopad2 features 16 great-feeling and dynamic-sensing pads, as well as an X-Y touch pad.

The Nanopad2's versatility is further enhanced by its four banks of pad assignments, providing a total of 64 pad assignments. The sixteen velocity-sensitive pads offer excellent response to the user's fingertips, ensuring that the playing feel is accurately conveyed to the sequencer or DAW software, resulting in lively drum parts.

By switching between the four scenes, users can access these 64 different pad assignments. The X-Y pad can be utilized to control multiple synthesizer parameters. Furthermore, the "touch scale" function allows users to intuitively play phrases on the X-Y touch pad, similar to the kaossilator. Users can choose from sixteen different scales and specify the root key and note range to ensure that their performance remains within the desired musical context.

The "gate ARP" function, borrowed from the kaossilator Pro, transmits note data based on tempo, with tap tempo and tempo sync support. When combined with the touch scale, the gate ARP enables users to play tempo-synchronized phrases and rhythms simply by stroking the X-Y pad or playing the pads.

To facilitate customization and detailed settings, the Nanopad2 is compatible with the "Korg control editor" software, available for free on the Korg website. Users can choose from three velocity curves or fixed velocity, specify note numbers, create user scales for the touch scale function, assign chords, assign control change messages, and save their personalized settings.

The Nanopad2 is designed to be a quick and portable music production system, with a single USB cable providing both power and USB-MIDI data, resulting in a clean and efficient workspace. Its low-profile design makes it excellent for playing or entering drum data, with its sixteen solid, responsive, and velocity-sensitive trigger pads and the ability to control multiple MIDI parameters via the X-Y Touchpad.
