The MICROKORG, with its dual-oscillator DSP synthesis engine, offers a wider selection of waveforms than any other modeled synth, as seen in Korg's critically acclaimed MS2000. Oscillator 1 boasts a total of 71 waveforms, including traditional analog waves like Saw, Pulse, sine, and noise, as well as more unique choices like Vox wave and cross wave. These waveforms can be modulated to produce an extensive range of timbres.
Moreover, the MICROKORG incorporates 64 exclusive dwgs waveforms from Korg's classic DW-8000, enabling it to reproduce a broad collection of imitative sounds, such as bells, electric pianos, guitars, and basses, which would be challenging to reproduce on an analog synthesizer.
The synth also offers the capability to apply ring and sync modulation from Oscillator 2, allowing users to create the kind of complex timbres that are the hallmark of an advanced synthesizer. Four filter modes are available, including -12 dB (2-pole) low pass, high pass, and band pass configurations, as well as an extra steep -24 dB (4-pole) low pass setting, all with resonance.
The MICROKORG's sound-shaping capabilities are further enhanced by two classic ADSR envelope generators and two MIDI-syncable LFOs. Additionally, the virtual patch matrix enables users to create advanced modulation settings, such as routing the Mod wheel to control filter cutoff or pulse width, or using an LFO to control panning or amp level, providing performance that is unheard of from a synthesizer in this price range.
In terms of connectivity, the MICROKORG offers AUDIO IN 1 and 2, with a Level switch for LINE/MIC, as well as [AUDIO IN 1, 2 (LINE)] and [AUDIO IN 2 (MIC)]. The sound generation method is Analog Modeling Synthesis System, and the synthesizer is multi-timbral, with a maximum of 2 parts in Split/Dual Mode. The MICROKORG has 4 voices and can be powered by a DC 9V adapter or six AA alkaline batteries (sold separately).
The arpeggiator features 6 types, and the outputs include L/MONO, R, and Headphones. The MICROKORG is compatible with Windows 98 Second Edition, Me, 2000 SP2, and XP, as well as Mac OS X 10.6.8 or later.
